Frequently Asked Questions
Marvel Rivals is a 2024 hero-shooter title developed by NetEase Games. In the game, players create teams from a lineup of 35 iconic heroes, anti-heroes, and villains from the Marvel universe to engage in battles.
As of the release of Season 1, there are a total of 35 Heroes available in Marvel Rivals.
The storyline revolves around a merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099. This conflict has caused the Timestream Entanglement, forcing countless universes to collide and creating new worlds and unknown crises. Super Heroes and Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as different groups vie to defeat both versions of Doctor Doom to prevent the domination of these realities. This has led to familiar faces becoming foes and former enemies becoming allies.
Heroes in Marvel Rivals are categorized into three primary roles:
- Vanguard
- Duelist
- Strategist
Vanguards are designed to operate at the frontline of battles. They possess large health pools, allowing them to endure longer and absorb more damage from opposing teams without dying. Each Vanguard has at least one method of blocking or mitigating damage, fitting the archetype of "tanks" commonly seen in similar games.
Duelists are heroes focused on dealing maximum damage and securing takedowns of opponents. They are responsible for finding, engaging, and eliminating enemies using their abilities. Duelists often have abilities that exclusively benefit themselves and feature versatile mobility options. They align with the "DPS" (Damage Per Second) archetype found in other similar games.
Strategists primarily assist and support their teammates by healing damage inflicted by enemy teams. Additionally, many Strategists provide other forms of utility or grant unique buffs, such as increasing damage dealt, granting bonus health, and providing extra movement speed. They are usually positioned behind the rest of the team and fit the "supports" archetype seen in similar games.
